At least five persons who cross Cebu island and sneak into Bohol province were placed under strict facility quarantine in Inabanga town.

Police identified them as Rodrigo Lofranco, 63, a former village chief in San Isidro, Inabanga; Charito Lofranco, 38; Joel Gudes, 43; Angelo Lofranco, 28; and Gino Digal, 20.

They were taken into custody by the police on Monday for allegedly trying to get into Inabanga town from Cordova, Cebu without a travel authority.

They were apprehended by personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard who cited that they also had no permit to sail.

Under the guidelines set by the inter-Agency Task Force on the management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), provinces under the general community quarantine are allowed to resume their sea travels.

However, the Bohol provincial government has only specified that those allowed for now to come home are repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and those Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) with proper health clearances and travel authority from the Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield under the Philippine National Police.

The said men hired a pump boat in the town of Cordova in Mactan Island, Cebu province to reach the town. They were brought to a quarantine facility for their mandatory quarantine since they came from an area where a high number of COVID-19 cases are recorded.
