The Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH) on Monday said that the 17-year-old girl who was tagged as probable Covid-19 patient is recuperating well at the hospital after an operation.

The girl underwent an appendectomy at RCH when she exhibited possibility of contracting the viral infection via a rapid antibody test.

The RCH was “able to identify, isolate and screen a probable Covid-19 case.”

“The status of the patient with the probable Covid-19 infection is good. The patient is recuperating well from the surgical operation and remains to be asymptomatic,” the RCH said in a statement on Monday afternoon, May 25.

It said that they are closely monitoring the progress of the RT-PCR confirmatory test being done at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Labortary (VSMMC SNL) in Cebu City.

“We shall issue another update as soon as it is available,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the 16 health workers under quarantine “are in good spirits and continue to be asymptomatic.”

“They also need your support, prayers and encouragement,” it said.

As anxiety hovers the province over coronavirus, RCH in Tagbilaran City earned praises from netizens for its honest approach.

Netinzens lauded the hospital for its “commitment to transparency” and how it handled the probable Covid-19 case admitted in its facility.

The RCH likewise assured the public that proper disinfecting procedures are being done based on stringent protocol set by the ICC and Infectious Disease Specialists.

As the province continues to reassure the population over the coronavirus, many netizens say Ramiro’s approach in communicating to the public is providing a model for others to reduce panic, rumors and conspiracy theories.
