Contact tracing up as 17- year-old girl probable of Covid-19

Authorities are monitoring more individuals after a 17-year-old girl who was admitted in a private hospital in Tagbilaran City has been identified as a probable Covid-19 patient after testing positive in a rapid test.

Dr. Cesar Tomas “Yul” Lopez, spokesperson on Covid-19-related matters at the provincial Capitol, said that they are almost done with their contract-tracing efforts in relation to the probable Covid-19 case.

The girl underwent an appendectomy at the Ramiro Community Hospital when she showed signs of viral infection through a rapid antibody test.

The RCH issued an official statement on Tuesday, May 19, that it was able to identify, isolate and screen a probable Covid-19 case.

It said contact tracing and quarantine procedures have been conducted.

The case and its contacts have been reported to the Bohol Provincial Health Office and the Department of Health-Center for Health Developmebt Region 7-Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (DOH-CHD 7 RESU).

Samples for confirmatory testing have been taken and sent to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) in Cebu City.

The Tagbilaran City-based hospital likewise assured the public that proper disinfectan is being done based on stringent protocol set by the ICC and Infectious Disease Specialists.

The hospital’s transparency earned praises and admiration from residents and netizens.
