A doctor and two registered medical technologists (RMTs) sent by Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital to train in Cebu had tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

In Facebook post on Friday (May 15), Gov. Arthur Yap said the doctor and medical technologists were positive from a polymerase chain reaction
(PCR) test given last Wednesday.

Yap said they are asymptomatic and are presently isolated in Cebu.

The Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas has begun the contact tracing protocol.

Dozens of health-care workers have fallen ill with COVID-19, and more are quarantined after exposure to the virus, the DOH reported.
