Two charges were filed before the 2nd Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) in Tubigon against the policeman who crossed Bohol province even without clearance from local officials.
Police Supt. Jonathan Cabal told reporters in a live media briefing on Friday afternoon that the cases filed against Police Sergeant Sandro Tandugon include violation of Section 9 under Republic Act 11332 or an “An Act Providing Policies and Prescribing Procedures on Surveillance and Response to Notifiable Diseases, Epidemics, and Health Events of Public Health Concern” and Executive Order 08, Series of 2020 that suspends domestic sea and air travel in the province while it is under community quarantine.
Cabal told Bohol Island News in a text message that it was the Tubigon Police Station who filed the case against Tandugon since he entered the province through the Port of Tubigon.
“Dun kasi ang point of entry niya. Tubigon police ang may jurisdiction to investigate,” Cabal said.
“We will not tolerate misdemeanor or lapses of those people who violate the law. Even our policemen, we will impose the law without fear or favor,” he told reporters during the afternoon press conference with Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap.
Meanwhile, Yap said they have already streamlined procedures especially for those exempted under the executive order.
