Distributor nabbed for selling overpriced alcohol in Tubigon

Marniel Calunia was arrested for allegedly selling overpriced alcohol in Tubigon town in Bohol on Thursday afternoon, April 23, 2020.

A distributor was arrested for selling overpriced alcohol during an operation in Tubigon town on Thursday (April 23).

NBI-Bohol director Rennan Augustus Oliva identified the suspect as Marniel Calunia, a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Pinayagan in Tubigon town.

Calunia was also a beauty product seller.

He allegedly sold 1 liter of isopropyl alcohol for P199 each bottle. His buyers who bought alcohol from him sold it for P250 per liter.

The suggested ceiling price for the product is P137.50 as the province rides out a month-long quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The agents confiscated 354 bottles from him which worth P70, 247.

The suspect was brought to the NBI office and will face charges for violation of the Price Act and the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
