Barangay Totolan village chief Raldo Rollorazo.

Barangay Totolan village chief Raldo Rollorazo clarified that there was never a “tukis” pass issued to his constituents amid the enhanced community quarantine in the province.

In an interview, Rollorazo said there was a “miscommunication”.

“Dili gyud to intention sa barangay mo-issue sa tukis pass. Binuang ra gyud to. Tungod sa barkada barkada. Pero lesson learned nani kay nahitabo naman,” he said during an interview.

He explained that last April 9 while he and some of the village councilmen were on duty, some residents went to the barangay hall to ask for a home quarantine pass.

Since these residents were their friends, they pranked them by saying that they should be issued a “Tukis” pass instead of a home quarantine pass.

“Tukis” is an illegal cockfighting activity that usually takes place during the Holy Week.

His secretary changed the word “Quarantine” to “Tukis” and printed a copy. He showed it to his friends “just for fun”.

Rollorazo later told the secretary to throw it to the trash bin. Even village councilman Carlito Responte reminded them to throw the printed copy to prevent future problem.

Barangay Totolan village chief Raldo Rollorazo and his councilmen distributed relief packs to the Badjao community on Tuesday, April 14.

However, he was shocked when he learned that a 24-year-old man was arrested by Tagbilaran police who showed the “tukis” pass instead of the home quarantine pass.

The man was a former resident of Totolan but now residing in Tagbilaran City.

In an investigation, Rollorazo said it was found out that the secretary left the printed copy on the desk, and unfortunately, the barangay treasurer had mistaken the printed copy for a quarantine pass and gave it to residents.

“Accepton namo nga sayup ang amo gibuhat. Dili lalim nga tukis pass, kontra nato ang tukis, walay tukis pud,” he added.

He said instead of entertaining negative feedback from detractors he just focused himself on heading the giving of relief goods.

He said on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, he and his barangay council went to the Badjao community to deliver relief goods to 135 households.

That was the second wave of relief goods in the barangay.

The third wave of the distribution is set next week.

“Mas importante pa ning panghatag sa relief goods kaysa anang batikos sa uban,” he said. with reports from Helen Castaño in Bohol.
