A 29-year-old woman was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bohol for selling overpriced face masks amid the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19.

A report from NBI-Bohol identified the suspect as Claire Marie Josol Amper, a resident of Calape town.

She was arrested in an entrapment operation outside a mall in Tagbilaran City at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

The arrest came after an informant informed police that Amper is selling overpriced N95 masks in Bohol using her Facebook account.

NBI said the suspect was offering 16 pieces of N95 masks at P250 each. The price is higher than what the DTI has set, NBI added.

Based on the suggested retail price of the Department of Trade and Industry, one box of surgical masks should only be priced at P40 to P50, while the N95 masks should cost P80 to P100 apiece.

The suspect is now under the custody of the NBI-Bohol as charges for violation of the Price Act and the Consumer Price Act of the Philippines and Food and Drug Administration are being prepared against her.
