An official from the Department of Health (DOH) in Manila confirmed that one of their directors has tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
According to different media reports, the DOH director is from their Central Office.
In a separate official statement released by DOH, it confirmed that there is a senior DOH official who tested positive of Covid-19.
However, the health department emphasized that it was not any member of the executive committee.
“DOH assures its employees that their safety and health is top priority. Offices have been disinfected and close contacts informed so that they can immediately undergo home quarantine and strict monitoring,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) based in Geneva has confirmed that two of their staff also tested positive of Covid-19.
In a report by Daily Mail Online, it said that both employees are showing symptoms at home and were then tested.
This is considered a first at the Geneva-based organization.
It was not yet clear as of this writing if the ones infected were working in the coronavirus response.
