The provincial government of Bohol is poised to ban mass gatherings as it declared “community quarantine” order of Governor Arthur Yap over Bohol to combat coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its transmission.
Yap said mass gatherings are merely discouraged.
Mass gatherings may include fiestas, “sabong”, medical missions, graduations, reunions, among others.
“Use your mind, use your common sense, your imagination, what big gathering is. We are discouraging gatherings of all forms and sizes,” he said.
Yap announced placing Bohol under “community quarantine” starting Monday.
The quarantine period will be from 12 midnight of March 16 up until March 20.
He explained such a declaration is important so that Bohol would be able to quickly take appropriate measures to combat COVID-19 and its transmission.
“We are not doing this to keep you away. We are doing this to save your lives,” Yap said.
