Talibon town has the most number of reported dengue cases for the first two months of the year 2020.
In a data obtained by Bohol Island News (BIN), the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) in Central Visayas recorded a total of 270 cases in the town with one recorded death.
Talibon only ranked 12th last year with 95 cases and no recorded deaths.
The latest data released by RESU-7 is as of February 29, 2020.
Other towns and city that had the highest number of dengue cases in Bohol include Tubigon with 103 cases and one death; Tagbilaran City with 89 cases; Clarin with 77 cases; and Alicia with 71 cases.
There are now a total of 5,973 cases in the entire region.
Compared to the same period last year, this is 1.52 percent higher.
Most of the affected cases wrre under 6 to 10 years age group.
Majority of the cases recorded in the region was in Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talibon, and Carcar City.
DOH-7 Director Jaime Bernadas earlier reminded the public not to lose focus in their campaign against dengue amidst the ongoing health threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
He again reminded the public to always practice the 4S against dengue which include search and destkrh mosquito breeding areas, self protection measures, seek early consultation, and support fogging/spraying if there is an impending outbreak.
