A total of 42 couples were married in a civil mass wedding ceremony officiated by Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II at the City Atrium on Friday.

This is an annual activity that Yap officiated a “Kasalan sa Tagbilaran sa Valentine’s Day” to legitimize the union of couples, including common law partners, for free.

Like in the previous mass weddings, wedding bouquet and male corsage, two layers wedding cake, two bottles of sparkling red wine, a luncheon table for 12 persons and free souvenir pictures were given for free to the participating couples.

According to City Hall, many of the couples who tied the knot were already living together for years.

However, financial issues prevented the couples from getting married in view of the expenses that come with a church or civil wedding.
