A couple facing murder charges and allegedly high ranking officials of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP/NPA) were arrested by the Philippine Army (PA) on Saturday morning, February 07, 2020, in Barangay Tulang, Getafe town.
The 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Battalion identified the suspects as Rey Camacho, 51 and his wife Carmelita, 48.
Both are alleged members of the NPA National Finance Commission.
They were arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by a court for a charge of murder.
The two were former NPA Regional Cadres in Central Visayas and are believed to be involved in extortion activities and recruitment of minors in the area, according to a statement from the military.
Rey was the former ROC Commander of KR-CENVIS and an NPA’s National Operations Command Staff before he joined his wife in the National Finance Commission.
Recovered from their possession were a loaded 45-caliber handgun, an MK2 grenade, a 40mm rifle grenade and a detonating cord.
