Senator Risa Hontiveros on Friday slammed the slow decision of the government to temporarily ban all Chinese tourists to the Philippines.
“Di ko talaga maintindihan bakit slow ang response ng ating gobyierno. Dapat nga hindi lang reaction dapat precautionary measures,” said Hontiveros who was in Bohol on Friday morning.

“It has been more than 12 hours mula nung pag-deklara ng World Health Organization (WHO), bakit wala pa rin total temporary ban of all visitors from China. Hindi lang sa Wuhan, hindi lang sa Hubei province, pero sa buong bansa into the Philippines,” she said.
“Temporary ban for at least 30 days at ilagay sa surveillance ang lahat ng galing dun,” she said.
Hontiveros was in Bohol as a speaker in a forum on Safe Spaces Act and Mental Health organized by the advocacy group Every Woman with Pilipina and Pandayan Women-Bohol at the Ceremonial Hall of the New Provincial Capitol Building.
She was wearing mask upon her arrival at Bohol Panglao International Airport along with other tourists.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday declared coronavirus an international health emergency after the Philippines confirmed its first case of novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD).

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said that a woman admitted in the Philippines tested positive of the disease.
Duque said the woman, 38, came from Wuhan, China. She arrived in the Philippines via Hongkong last January 21.
