Boholano fans of basketball legend Kobe Bryant paid tribute to their idol as they posted their memories of him on their individual Facebook accounts.

Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap shared a quote of Kobe on his Facebook page.

“Pain doesn’t tell you when you ought to stop. Pain is the little voice in your head that tries to hold you back because it knows if you continue you will change. Don’t let it stop you from being who you can be. Exhaustion tells you when you ought to stop. You only reach your limit when you can go no further,” he wrote on his post.

Stephanie Tumampos, who formerly writes for Business Mirror and is a native of Candijay town, shared a photo she took of Kobe when he visited the Philippines back in 2016.

“Sure others had better photos but man, it was surreal to see this guy in person,” she wrote.

“I am just so sad to hear the news today. You will be remembered forever in our hearts, Kobe,” she added.

Orher Boholano fans like provincial board member Jade Acapulco Bautista and Alan Mascariñas Belotindos also posted how heartbroken they are of the news of Kobe’s death.

Meanwhile, the National Basketball Association (NBA) family has expressed its devastation over the tragic passing of Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

In a statement by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, he wrote and described Kobe as one of the most extraordinary players in the history of NBA.

“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning,” a portion of his statement read.

He then cited Kobe’s achievements including five NBA championships, NBA MVP award, 18 NBA All-Star selections, and two Olympic gold medals.

“But he will be remembered most for inspiring people around the world to pick up a basketball and compete to the very best of their ability,” he said.

“He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share it with future generations of players, taking special delight in passing down his love of the game to Gianna,” he added.

The NBA also extend their condolences to Kobe’s wife Vanessa and their family, the Lakers organization and the entire sports world.
