A police officer was killed, while his wife injured in an ambush by unidentified men in Maribojoc town Bohol, Monday evening, January 6, 2020.
Authorities identified the fatality as Police Corporal Arnel Bayot, who was driving his Toyota Corolla with wife Richelle.
Both were said to be on their way home to Tubigon town when attacked by gunmen in Barangay Guiwanon, Maribojoc town.

Arnel suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while Richelle suffered from gunshot wounds in her arm and left leg.
The victims were immediately brought to hospital.
Arnel was declared dead on arrival at Maribojoc District Hospital, while wife Richelle was brought to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for further medical attention.
At least 19 empty shells were found by police in the crime scene.
Maribojoc police said no witness has stepped out following their investigation, as the crime scene was said to be in a dark, uninhabited portion of Maribojoc.
Police Colonel Jonathan Cabal, director of Bohol Provincial Police Office, said they are investigating the motive in the officer’s death and conducting hot pursuit operation.
