Pope Francis offered his prayers to Filipinos affected by Typhoon Ursula(international name Phanfone) on Thursday, December 26.

Vatican News reported that after reciting the St Stephen’s Day Angelus, Pope Francis appealed for the people of the Philippines.

“I join in the suffering that has struck the dear people of the Philippines due to Typhoon Phanfone,” said the Pope.

Before inviting the faithful gathered at Saint Peter’s Square to recite the Hail Mary Prayer, he assured them of his own prayers, “for the numerous victims, for the wounded and for their families”.

At least 10 people were reported killed — one each in Kananga and Abuyog towns in Leyte province and eight, including a 3-year-old boy, in Iloilo and Capiz provinces.

Six other people were reported missing in Iloilo

The number of people missing is still unsure, whilst around 60,000 have been evacuated.
