Former Bohol Police spokesman gunned down in Cebu by unknown suspect

A Boholano high- ranking police official and a former spokeman of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) was gunned down by unknown suspect in Cebu City on Thursday night.

Police identified the victim as Lt. Col. Joie Pacito Yape Jr.

Yape, who hails from Baclayon town, was previously assigned at the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

He was assigned in Bohol in 2015 where he became the spokesman during the time of Brigadier Gen. Dennis Agustin.

His latest assignment is in Calbayog City, Samar Province as head of the intelligence unit.

Initial reports said Yape was gunned down by an unidentified man onboard a motorcycle near a hotel in Sitio Molave, Barangay Kamputhaw in Cebu City.

He was later brought to hospital. Sources said he remains in critical condition.
