Man wounded in Carmen shooting while playing online game

CARMEN, Bohol — A man was wounded after he was shot by a young assailant while playing an online game in Sitio Pangas, Barangay Guadalupe on Wednesday afternoon.

Police did not disclose the identity of the victim in the initial report.

The suspect was identified as Rodney Sarong, alias “Boyong,” 19, single, and a resident of the same area.

According to the investigation by the Carmen Municipal Police Station, the victim was resting outside the house of Erwin Boñao at around 3:40 p.m., engaged in an online game, when the suspect suddenly entered the premises.

Without clear provocation, the suspect tried to shoot the victim twice, but the gun did not fire. The victim then ran inside the house to escape, but the suspect fired again, hitting him in the right shoulder.

The suspect fled immediately after the shooting.

The victim was brought to Congressman Simeon G. Toribio Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

A follow-up hot pursuit operation led to the arrest of the suspect at his cousin’s residence. Also recovered a black .38 caliber revolver containing one spent cartridge and two live bullets.

Authorities are looking into personal grudge as the possible motive behind the incident.
