A total amount of P97.3 million worth of illegal drugs were recovered from various police operations in Central Visayas, regional director Police Brigadier General Val de Leon said Sunday.
“Methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu remains high in peddled volume with 10.2 thousand grams valued at P69.7M and marijuana with 229.9 thousand grams valued at P27.5M. These were recovered from October 17 to November 8 of this year,” he said.
De Leon assumed his new position on Oct. 17.
He ordered all his subordinate commanders to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in the region in line with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s program to eliminate the multi-billion illegal-drug industry in the country.
“There shall be more intelligence-driven operations against the illegal-drug industry in our area of responsibility,” de Leon declared.
De Leon also vowed to rid his command of scalawags involved in illegal activities especially illegal drugs by dismissing them from the service and the filing of administrative and criminal charges against them.
Central Visayas composed of the provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol, and Siquijor; and the independent cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

“Three drug personalities died in these police operations,” de Leon said.
“With the recent accomplishment, I and my men on the ground will continue to do our mandated tasks as law enforcement officers and eradicate this drug menace in Central Visayas. I will not rest until all of them will be arrested,” he added.
