Alleged leader of robbery group in Bohol nabbed in Getafe

An alleged “notorious” armed robbery leader was arrested in a police operation in Campao Oriental, Getafe town on Wednesday morning.

Police Colonel Jonathan Cabal, acting director of Bohol Provincial Police Office identified the suspect as Virgelio Torregosa, aka “Jun-Jun”, 37, a resident of Sitio Bless, Campao Oriental, Getafe.

According to Police Captain Benicer Tamboboy, chief of Getafe Municipal Police Station, Torregosa is the alleged leader of Torregosa Robbery Group operating in the second district of Bohol.

Police implemented a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms against the suspect around 6 a.m., November 6, at his residence in Getafe town.

The search warrant was issued by Judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo, Executive Judge, Regional Trial Court of Talibon, Bohol.

The police raid yielded one unit hand grenade, one unit calibre .45 without serial number loaded with one magazine and six rounds of live ammunitions, and one unit caliber .38 revolver loaded with three live ammunitions.

Torregosa was identified as the perpetrator in an armed robbery incident along national highway of barangay Salog last July 9, 2019 victimizing an Indian national.

Tamboboy added that Torregosa is a drug surrenderer.

He is now detained at the Getafe police detention facility.
