A motorcycle rider was injured while his backrider was killed in a motorcycle crash along the highway of Barangay Itom in Duero town on Sunday afternoon.
Based on the report from the Duero police, Mac Dj Celomine, 20, and Sharmaine Casundo were traversing the said road on board the motorcycle when the accident happened at about 3:45 p.m.
Celomine reportedly fell asleep and lost control of the motorcycle.
Both of them were thrown off after the crash.
Celomine landed on the pavement and sustained body injuries. However, Casundo suffered serious head injury after she was slammed on a nearby electric post.
Police said both were wearing helmets.
They were brought to Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital in Jagna town but Casundo was declared dead by the attending physician.
Celomine was then transferred to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for further treatment.
