LPA east of Basco, Batanes now a tropical depression ‘Nimfa’

The low pressure area (LPA) that was spotted east of Basco, Batanes has developed into a tropical depression and was named “Nimfa.”

Tropical Depression Nimfa is expected to bring moderate rains with occasional heavy rain showers over Central Luzon and Occidental Mindoro between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, according to the Severe Weather Bulletin Pagasa released at 5 p.m.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it is almost stationary, the center estimated at 695 km East of Basco, Batanes with sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

No tropical cyclone signal.

Meanwhile, another LPA was spotted at 95 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.
