The decomposing body of an unidentified man found near a piggery on Wednesday afternoon in Purok 6 in Barangay Danao in Panglao town was finally identified, police said.

Police Patrolman Gerard Rollon of Panglao Police Station said the body was identified as Verino Villaver.

Villaver’s cadaver was discovered at around 3 p.m. by Jeffrey Lagaron, caretaker of the piggery.

Rollon said the cadaver was already in an advanced stage of decomposition.

He added that the body was there for several weeks, based on “the level of decomposition,” according to municipal health officer Julieta Cogo.

At 5 p.m., a certain Michelle Villaber, a resident of the area, told police that the cadaver was of his 70-year-old father Verino who was missing for two weeks. She positively identified the body throug the man’s dress.
