Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy was officially installed as the fifth archbishop and 25th bishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu during solemn rites at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, succeeding Archbishop Emeritus Jose Palma who retired at the mandatory age of 75.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu has officially announced that Bishop Alberto “Abet” Sy Uy will be canonically installed as the 25th Bishop and the 5th Metropolitan Archbishop of Cebu on September 30, 2025 (Tuesday), at 9 AM.
