TAGBILARAN CITY — The much-anticipated SM Bohol Project will proceed as planned, according to Hans Sy of the SM Group, providing assurance to Boholanos awaiting the major development project.

Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado said the public has no reason to worry about the status of the project after receiving confirmation that SM remains committed to its implementation.

“This is good news for the entire province,” Aumentado said, emphasizing the significant economic opportunities expected to come with the project.

The governor noted that the development is projected to generate employment opportunities for local residents, stimulate the growth of both small and large businesses, and strengthen Bohol’s economy through increased investments and commercial activity.

Aumentado also stressed the importance of maintaining a positive outlook and fostering cooperation among various sectors in supporting initiatives that contribute to the province’s continued progress.

“Bohol’s development continues,” the governor said, expressing gratitude to investors for their confidence in the province and for supporting projects aimed at improving the livelihood of Boholanos.

The arrival of SM in Bohol is regarded as one of the province’s major investment projects, expected to provide new economic momentum while offering additional services and conveniences to residents and visitors alike.
Local officials and stakeholders have welcomed the development, viewing it as a catalyst for further growth and modernization in the province.

The project is expected to complement Bohol’s expanding tourism industry and ongoing infrastructure improvements, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s emerging economic hubs.

Local government officials and SM executives broke ground and laid the capsule for the 60,000-square-meter property on February 27, 2025.
