TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The provincial government of Bohol has officially reverted to the regular five-day workweek, ending the implementation of the four-day workweek arrangement that had been adopted as an energy-saving measure.
Under Executive Order No. 34, Series of 2026, signed by Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado, all offices, departments, divisions, and units of the Provincial Government of Bohol will resume the regular Monday-to-Friday work schedule effective June 1, 2026.
The executive order cited the Local Government Code of 1991, which mandates local government units to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of public services.
The provincial government had earlier adopted a four-day workweek in support of national government efforts to conserve energy and reduce fuel consumption amid the surge in global oil prices caused by tensions and hostilities in the Middle East.
According to the order, the arrangement was intended to lessen fuel consumption, electricity usage, and related operational expenses while maintaining the delivery of essential government services.
However, recent developments in the international situation, including the observance of a ceasefire and the de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, have contributed to the stabilization of global energy markets and the reduction of fuel prices.
“With the easing of fuel and energy cost pressures, the circumstances that justified the adoption of the four-day workweek have substantially changed,” the order stated.
The provincial government also noted that restoring the regular workweek would improve accessibility to government services, strengthen coordination among offices, expedite the processing of transactions, and enhance responsiveness to the needs of Boholanos.
The order further emphasized the need to restore normal government operations and ensure the full availability of provincial government offices during regular working days to effectively implement priority programs, projects, and services.
Under Section 2 of the executive order, all officials and employees of the provincial government of Bohol shall observe the regular working hours prescribed by applicable Civil Service rules and regulations.
The move marks the end of the province’s temporary four-day workweek arrangement and the return of normal office operations across the provincial government.
