TAGBILARAN CITY — A 67-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding hit the rear of a bus and he was later run over by another vehicle along the national highway in Barangay Pinayagan Norte, Tubigon, Bohol on Thursday evening, March 5.

The victim was identified as Vicente Josol, 67, a resident of Mandaug, Calape, who was the backrider of the motorcycle.

The driver, Benjie Ardiente, 35, sustained only minor injuries in the accident.

Initial investigation by the Tubigon police revealed that the motorcycle was following a bus of Ceres Bus Lines along the highway at around 7 p.m.

However, for reasons still being determined, the motorcycle crashed into the rear of the bus, reportedly due to its speed.

Due to the strong impact, Josol was thrown off the motorcycle and landed on the opposite lane of the road. At that moment, a passing 10-wheeler wing van struck and ran over the victim, causing his death.

Police investigation also disclosed that both the motorcycle driver and the backrider had consumed alcoholic drinks before the accident occurred.
