CARMEN, Bohol — Mayor Che Toribio-delos Reyes on Monday called on young people to take a more active role in agriculture, stressing the need to revive interest in farming in the municipality.
Speaking during Carmen’s 157th Foundation Day celebration on March 2, Toribio-delos Reyes said she has observed a decline in youth participation in farming and urged the Municipal Agriculture Office and the Department of Agriculture to develop programs that would encourage young residents to return to the fields.
“I really want to revive our agriculture. Let us start here in the town of Carmen,” the mayor said.
Farmers from the town’s 29 barangays showcased and sold their produce at affordable prices during the event, drawing strong support from residents and highlighting Carmen’s solid agricultural foundation.
Among those who attended the celebration were Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado, Nick Besas, and Board Member Nathaniel Binlod, along with local officials from the agriculture sector.
