TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial government of Bohol welcomed officials of the National Task Force Balik-Loob Mindanao and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on February 10, 2026, as part of efforts to keep the province insurgency-free.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Aldanese, NTF Balik-Loob Mindanao coordinator, and DSWD regional representative Julius Villanueva paid a courtesy visit to the New Capitol and were received by Vice Governor Nick Besas, along with Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) focal person Romeo Teruel and chief of staff Filipina Asoy-Piollo.

Discussions focused on strengthening the implementation of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) and other peace and development initiatives.

Aldanese said the visit was in preparation for the Bohol Peace Day celebration on February 11. He noted that Bohol remains a declared cleared area, citing effective coordination among government agencies, security forces, and communities.

He also stressed the role of local government units in preventing the return of insurgency through social services, livelihood programs, and inclusive development.

Meanwhile, Villanueva reported that 27 former rebels have surrendered and will receive P20,000 each in livelihood assistance. He said more beneficiaries may be assisted based on their needs, adding that the aid will be distributed during the Bohol Peace Day celebration.

Teruel, for his part, reminded eligible individuals that March 13, 2026, is the deadline for filing applications under the amnesty program.

The provincial government said the initiatives are part of its continuing commitment to sustaining peace and promoting inclusive development in Bohol.
