TAGBILARAN CITY — Catigbian Mayor Benjie Oliva summoned the officials of Barangay Baang on Tuesday, Nov. 25, to personally discuss and resolve the conflict between Barangay Captain Ulysses Digaum and Barangay Kagawad Yanyan Batulanon, which had gone viral on social media.

When the two faced each other at the mayor’s office, it became clear that the dispute had been settled. As a gesture of genuine reconciliation and goodwill, they shook hands in front of Mayor Oliva and all the Baang barangay council members.

Oliva, acting as the father of the town, reminded the officials to ensure that such an incident does not happen again. He emphasized the importance of strengthening communication, unity, and mutual understanding among barangay officials to prevent similar conflicts in the future.

“This morning, after calling in the officials of Barangay Baang, their issue was resolved,” Oliva said. “As a sign of goodwill and reconciliation, the two shook hands in front of me and the entire council. As the father of the town, I urge everyone to make sure this does not happen again.”

After the dialogue, all parties agreed to continue working together for good governance, peace, and the welfare of the Baang community.

The controversy stemmed from a viral video posted by Batulanon accusing Digaum of being drunk during a barangay session. The video was now deleted.
