TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL — The College of Consultors of the Diocese of Tagbilaran has elected Fr. Gerardo “Jingboy” Fortich Saco Jr. as the new Diocesan Administrator, following the vacancy of the episcopal seat (sede vacante).
Bishop Alberto” “Abet” Uy was designated Cebu Archbishop.
The election, held earlier today, was attended by 12 priests from the diocesan presbyterate who gathered to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of leadership within the local Church.
Fr. Saco, who previously served as Vicar General of the diocese, also chairs the Commission on Social Action and is the priest-in-charge of St. Vincent Ferrer Mission Station in Barangay Cabawan, Tagbilaran City. Known for his pastoral zeal and administrative competence, he is expected to provide stability and continuity in diocesan governance during the interim period.
As diocesan administrator, Fr. Saco will first make his profession of faith before formally assuming his duties. Special Masses will also be held across the diocese to pray for the Holy Father’s appointment of a new bishop for Tagbilaran.
The election of Saco reflects the confidence of the College of Consultors and underscores the commitment of the Diocese of Tagbilaran to maintain pastoral care and good governance while awaiting the naming of its next shepherd.
