TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Bohol Information Communication Technology Council (BICTC) is working to attract more talent for the province’s growing Information Communication Technology–Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector, which is seen as a potential top industry in the coming years.
BICTC president Jay Paul Aying, joined by Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO) head Jude Guieb, shared the province’s latest developments in the IT-BPM sector during the recent Kapihan sa PIA.
Citing the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Aying said Bohol is “no longer an emerging site” but is now considered a “scalable and talent-ready IT-BPM hub.”
Currently, Bohol has around 5,000 full-time IT-BPM workers, according to BEDIPO, with further expansions expected from call centers already operating in the province. Four major firms—TaskUs, Ibex, Genpact, and Sagility—are now based in Tagbilaran City.
Genpact, which offers medical transcription services, and Ibex are expected to expand their workforce before the end of 2025. This is prompting BICTC and BEDIPO to encourage students to prepare themselves for a smooth transition into call center careers.
The BPM industry in the Philippines generates close to $40 billion in annual revenue and employs around 1.9 million Filipinos. BICTC believes that greater Bol-anon participation in the sector could bring significant economic benefits to the province.
