TAGBILARAN CITY – Bohol 2nd District Representative Maria Vanessa Cadorna- Aumentado has filed House Bill No. 2801, seeking to upgrade the basic salary of public school teachers from Salary Grade 11 to Salary Grade 15.

The measure, filed on Monday, aims to recognize the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the future of the country and to provide them with fair and just compensation for their dedication and service.

In her explanatory note, Aumentado emphasized the critical role that teachers play not only in the education system but also in nation-building.

“Usa kini sa atong mga lakang aron hatagan ug dakong pagtagad ang atong mga magtutudlo, nga mibarug isip katambayayong sa mga ginikanan aron hatagan ug lamdag nga kaugmaon ang atong mga kabataan,” she said.

At present, entry-level public school teachers receive a salary under Salary Grade 11, which is approximately P27,000 per month. Under House Bill 2801, their pay would be raised to Salary Grade 15, increasing their monthly salary to about P36,000.

She added that enhancing teachers’ salaries will not only support their socio-economic and professional development but will also encourage more qualified individuals to join and remain in the public education system.

“This proposed measure aims to uplift the morale and dignity of our silent heroes—our public school teachers,” said Aumentado. “It seeks to provide fair compensation for their tireless efforts in educating our youth and to help improve their quality of life and that of their families.”
