CANDIJAY, BOHOL— A 59-year-old woman was killed after she was accidentally run over by a dump truck in Candijay town on Saturday, Juy 12.
Police said that the incident happened at past 4 p. m. in Sitio Dilaan in Barangay Poblacion.
Investigation revealed that the accident occurred when a 52-year-old motorcycle rider, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and speeding, collided with another motorcycle being driven by a 35-year-old school guard with Nora Nabarte Ampong as the back rider.
Due to the strong impact, both passengers fell to the ground, and Ampong’s head was tragically run over by a passing Sinotruck dump truck, resulting in her instant death.
All individuals involved in the incident were rushed to the Candijay Community Hospital for medical treatment. However, Ampong was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Pristine Faith Sumera. The cause of death was listed as severe head injury secondary to road crash accident.
The involved parties were brought to the Candijay Municipal Police Station for proper investigation and legal proceedings.
Candijay police continue to urge motorists to obey traffic laws, avoid drunk driving, and always exercise caution on the road to prevent similar tragedies.
