Boy in stable condition after snake bite in Panglao

An 11-year-old boy is now in stable condition after he was bitten by a snake in Barangay Tawala, Panglao, around 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The victim, a student of Tawala Elementary School and a resident of Purok-3, Barangay Tawala, was bitten on his left pinky finger by a paradise flying tree snake (Chrysopelea paradisi), a
Mildly venomous snake, during their recess.

School officials immediately killed and burned the snake. The boy was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center in Tagbilaran City, with the snake brought along to help doctors identify it.

After confirming the species, the attending physician administered anti-venom twice. The boy responded well to the treatment and is now in safe, stable condition.
