TAGBILARAN CITY — The Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center (GCGMMC) has raised a Red Flag Status after its Emergency Room (ER) bed capacity surged to over 300%, severely straining its ability to provide timely care.

In a public advisory issued Wednesday,. July 10, the hospital warned that the overwhelming number of patients has pushed the ER to a critical point, potentially affecting response times and quality of emergency services.

“We strongly appeal to the public to seek ER services only for urgent and life-threatening conditions,” the advisory stated.

For non-emergency concerns, residents are advised to visit nearby health centers or outpatient clinics.

GCGMMC also called on referring health facilities to strictly follow proper gatekeeping protocols, and to refer only Level 3 cases whenever possible to help ease congestion.

“Let’s work together to maintain access to emergency services for those who need them most,” the statement emphasized.

The hospital thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation during this critical time.
