In a moving display of brotherhood and gratitude, Bishop Alberto “Abet” Uy of the Diocese of Tagbilaran paid tribute to his former bishop, now fellow prelate, Patrick Daniel Parcon, for their shared mission during the recent gathering of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in Bohol.

The heartfelt message, titled “A Brother’s Gratitude,” was shared by Bishop Uy on Facebook as the CBCP’s 130th Plenary Assembly drew to a close.

The event, held for the first time in Bohol, brought together more than 80 bishops and church leaders from across the country for a week of prayer, dialogue, and fellowship.

“This sacred task we took on—to welcome the CBCP to Bohol’s heart—was no easy road,” Bishop Uy reflected. “But your presence made the journey light. Two dioceses, one mission. Two shepherds, one heart.”

The two prelates, who once shared a bishop-priest relationship before Parcon was appointed bishop of Talibon, Bohol’s other diocese, have long nurtured a bond rooted in faith and service. Their collaboration during the historic CBCP assembly showcased not only ecclesiastical leadership but also deep personal brotherhood.

“In your steadiness, I found strength; in your friendship, peace,” Bishop Uy said, thanking God for the grace of their shared chapter in Bohol’s ecclesial history.

The CBCP annual retreat and plenary assembly, held from June 30 to July 7, marked a significant moment for the province’s two dioceses, highlighting their unity and commitment to the Church’s mission in the Visayas.

“Daghang salamat, from my heart to yours,” Bishop Uy concluded.
