LILA, BOHOL — Mayor Arturo Jed Piollo took his oath of office on Monday, June 30, alongside other newly elected municipal officials.

The event was followed by his State of the Municipality Address (SOMA), where he outlined the town’s accomplishments and development roadmap.

In his address, Piollo emphasized the importance of sustainable progress and reducing dependence on short-term aid.

He particularly highlighted the government’s support for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), but clarified that graduating from the program should be seen as a milestone rather than a loss.

The mayor underscored the need for long-term employment and livelihood programs over temporary job assistance such as Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

Among the notable achievements he cited was the decline in poverty incidence in Lila—a sign of the town’s improving economic conditions.

He also reported the successful digitalization of the Municipal Treasurer’s Office and the rollout of online payment services through Link.Biz, which has enhanced transparency and efficiency in local transactions.

Piollo noted growing investor confidence in the municipality, attributing it to the local government’s strong anti-corruption stance. He announced that one of Lila’s major upcoming projects is the construction of a San Miguel Cold Storage Plant, which is expected to generate jobs and stimulate the local economy.

The mayor concluded his address by encouraging residents to value hard work, education, and self-reliance—principles he believes are the true foundation of lasting development.
