Bohol province has recorded 10 suspected cases of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox).

Dr. Fruserma Mary Uy, office-in-charge of PHO, said on Tuesday that five cases are from Tagbilaran City and one each case from Jagna, Pilar, Dagohoy, Clarin and Inabanga towns.

She said the 10 patients are receiving appropriate medical attention.

She said samples were sent to Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City for confirmatory tests.

“The patients are isolated, they have mild symptoms,” Uy said in Inyong Alagad interview hosted by Loay vice-mayor elect Tibbs Bullecer.

The provincial government of Bohol launched a hotline for reporting cases of monkeypox or mpox.

If anyone shows symptoms of monkeypox, they are advised to contact launched the Monkeypox (mpox) Hotline—0930 251 3020 as quickly as possible.

Mpox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus, which can cause painful rashes, swollen lymph nodes, and fever.

Any person experiencing symptoms such as rashes, fever, or body aches is urged to immediately seek medical consultation and isolate at home if lesions appear.
