Police confiscated illegal drugs worth P13.7 million during a buy-bust on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 in Dauis down.
The arrested suspect was identified as Jessie “Balkan” Baginang, 26, a native of Purok 4, Barangay La Paz, Cortes town, Bohol. He was arrested at around 1:18 a.m. in Purok 4, Barangay Dao in Dauis town.
Police said Baginang was a high-value drug personality arrested in Bohol.
Members of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Joemar Pomarejos, seized large packages of what is believed to be shabu, weighing a total of 2,020 grams, with an estimated street value of P13,736,000.
The suspect is now facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a statement, Police Col. Arnel Banzon, provincial director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), commended the operatives for their dedication and successful operation.
“This achievement highlights the unwavering commitment of our law enforcement teams in ensuring the safety and security of our communities. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the operatives for their professionalism and perseverance. Let this serve as a reminder that we remain steadfast in the fight against illegal drugs, ” Banzon said.
Meanwhile, BPPO spokesperson Lt. Col. Norman Nuez called on the public to remain vigilant and actively participate in the campaign against illegal drugs.
“We urge the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their areas. Public cooperation is crucial in our efforts to maintain peace and order and to rid our province of illegal drugs,” said Nuez.
