Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo won by unanimous decision victory over Mexico’s Eduardo Ramirez that earned him the World Boxing Association (WBA) international super featherweight belt on Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Fighting for only the second time as a super featherweight (130 pounds), Magsayo, 28, who hails Tagbilaran City, warrio was the judges’ unanimous choice after the 10-round fight.

Ramirez, 31, was obviously hurt by Magsayo’s constant pounding and tried to rally in the last three rounds but was already too far behind the scorecards and allowed the Filipino to improve to 26-2 won-lost with 17 knockouts.

Ramirez fell to 28-4-3 win-loss-draw record with 13 knockouts.

In the third round Magsayo hit and dropped Ramirez with a strong right hand followed by a solid uppercut.

He was also as dominant in the fifth round when he landed a straight left on Ramirez’s jaw causing the Mexican to lose his mouthpiece.

After the end of the tenth round, the scores were revealed as follows: 97-92, 97-92 and 99-90, all in favor of Magsayo, the former WBC featherweight champion.

Magsayo debuted as a super featherweight last December in Long Beach, California, where he knocked out cold American Isaac Avelar in the third round.
