Students from the Bohol Island State University (BISU) students took the first crack at the Local and Overseas Bohol Job Fair 2024 at the Bohol Cultural Center Wednesday, May 8.
In partnership with the Bohol Employment and Placement Office – Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO) and provincial government, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), this year’s theme is ‘Harinawa; Empowering your journey to a Brighter Tomorrow’.
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado expressed his thanks to the organizers and wish the participants in the event well.
The governor also announced the upcoming and ongoing businesses that have ventured in the province including new SM near the Capitol, the upcoming branch of SNR to be located in Panglao as well as Puregold’s plan to put up eight more branches in Bohol.
Aumentado also named the Aboitiz Solar Farm that will be located in Ubay and the groundbreaking for the new Bohol IT Hub next week at the Old Airport in Tagbilaran City with investors such as Robinsons and BPO Companies Genpact and Sagility.
The job fair drew the participation of local agencies and companies such as Allianz PNB Life Insurance, Inc., Alturas Supermarket Corporation, Amorita Resort Panglao, ARDCI Microfinance Incorporated, Bohol Quality Corporation, Concentrix CVG Ph Inc., DES Strong Motors Inc., Ibex Global Solutions Ph. Inc., Keep Diving Scuba World
Corp., Nuat Thai Services Inc., SM Store Cebu, Task Us Bohol, and The Fortune Group.
Also taking part are overseas companies East West Placement Center Inc., Jobs Global.Com Employment Services Inc., Lead Resources Management Corp., Light & Hope Overseas Placement Agency Inc., Placewell International Services, and SMC Manpower Agency Phil. Company.
Booths for government services such as the DOLE, DMW, TESDA, OWWA, SSS, PHILHEALTH, and PAG-IBIG assisted the jobseekers.
Present during the event were Dr. Anthony Penaso, BISU MC university president, Dr. Samuel Gulayan, BISU MC campus director, Dr. Zina Sayson, BISU vice-president for student affairs and services, DMW OIC Regional Director Karl Frederick Arriola, TESDA Bohol OIC Joan Sayon, Maria Eloida Cantona of DOLE, Vanessa Reyes of OWWA, Dioscoro Madanguit, SSS Bohol assistant branch head, Gladys Cuevas of PHILHEALTH, and Leonardo Cirujales, PAGIBIG marketing and sales supervisor.
As Bohol is a strategic location for businesses amd opportunities, investors gained more interest in putting up businesses considering the unemployment rate of the province.
The governor is at arms as he supports businesses to enter the province allowing more opportunities for job seekers to be employed and to keep the Boholano talent within its course and to fulfill the Strategic Change Agenda of the Provincial Government of Bohol. (PIMO/RJG)
