The Provincial Government of Bohol joined the global Earth Day celebration.
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado issued Memorandum 2024-0591 for the conduct of a Capitol-wide clean up drive at the Capitol premises and surroundings on April 22.
The governor underscored the commitment of the provincial government to environmental protection.
During the flag raising rites, Mariquit Derikito-Oppus bared that the provincial government is partnering with the Bohol Nature Conservation Society (BONACONSO) on a greening initiative at the back of the Capitol.
Meanwhile, Pat Ruiz, BONACONSO director, said grassroots level mobilization activities were simultaneously held across the province for the Earth Day celebration.
She underscored the need to strike a balance in the implementation of programs in relation to environmental protection and preservation and the province’s socio-economic development.
Other activities for Earth Day include a wellness forum, arts exhibit, youth forum and an exercise activity.
This year’s earth day celebration is themed People vs. Plastics to highlight the commitment to reduce plastic production by 60% reduction in 2040. (PIMO/LMS)
