Sara Duterte visits wake of cop who died in Bilar Clash

Vice President and Department of Education Secretary Sara Duterte visited the wake of the police officer who who was killed in Bilar Clash in Calape town on Tuesday night.

“Saludo ako sa sakripisyo at kagitingang ipinakita ni Police Corporal Amper para mapanatili ang kaayusan at kapayapaan sa bayan natin,” Duterte posted on Facebook.

“Ang usapin sa kapayapaan at kaayusan ay mahalaga dahil ito ay magsisilbing tulay tungo sa kaunlaran at progreso ng ating mga komunidad at bayan,” she said.

Pictures captured by the local government of Calape and shared to the media showed Duterte at the wake of the PNP officer Police Corporal Gilbert Josol Amper Jr. in Barangay Liboron in Calape town.

Duterte was welcomed by acting governor Victor Balite, Calape Mayor Julius Caesar Herrera, and local officials.

Amper, who was part of the operation to serve the arrest warrants against Domingo “Kumander Cobra” Compoc, was killed
while serving warrants of arrest against Bohol Party committee leader Domingo Jaspe Compoc in Sitio Matin-ao 2, Barangay Campagao in Bilar, Bohol on Feb. 23, which also resulted in the latter’s death and four others.

Last week, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Visayas posthumously awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal).

Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, director of the Police Regional Office-7, led the ceremony of honoring the fallen officer at an undisclosed place in Bohol on Wednesday morning and personally handed over the medal to the family of Amper.
