A makeshift drug den in Barangay Cogon in Tagbilaran City, Bohol province was dismantled and three drug suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 8.

Based on a report from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the operation in the drug den, located in Purok 2 in Barangay Cogon, that was allegedly operated by live-in partners Sarah Jane Espejo, 29, a sidewalk vendor, and Nelmar Maputol, 39, a construction worker, emanated from a tip from a concerned citizen in the area.

They were arrested at 2 p. m.

Also arrested was Anthony Baliling, 28, a barber, who visited the den.

Confiscated during the operation were eight packs of suspected shabu weighing around 11 grams with an estimated average market value of P74,800, buy-bust money, two mobile phones, and various drug paraphernalia.

The pieces of drug evidence have been submitted for chemical analysis and proper disposition.

Cases for violation of Article II of RA 9165 will be filed against the suspects.

Drug dens are breeding grounds for violence and criminality and disrupt the peace and order in the community.
