Dauis Mayor Bullen: No budget means no salary for 100 JOs

Due to the non-passage of the town’s supplemental budget, there’s a chance that some 100 job order (JO) employees of Dauis Municipal Government will only receive their salaries until June 2023.

Dauis town Mayor Roman Bullen said the municipal council led by Vice Mayor Marietta Sumaylo received her request for Supplemental Budget No. 1 on January 6, 2023 amounting to P12, 998,000.

Until today, he said, it has not been approved.

Even his request of P1-million intelligence fund was not also approved by the council, the mayor added.

Bullen cited “political colors” or “political obstructionism” that is being played at the council.

Under the current administration, only one councilor is politically aligned with the mayor.

The seven councilors, ABC president, and SK municipal federated president were said to be allies of Sumaylo.

He said that they have referred this matter already to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“Hinaot ilang aprubahan ang budget for the benefit of the Dauisanon. Otherwise, they are depriving the people of Dauis of what they are supposed to get nga basic services,” he said.

Sumaylo and the councilors have yet to issue their respective statements on the matter.

Bohol Island News is open to publishing their side, should they decide to talk on the matter.
