Three fishermen were apprehended after they were caught fishing in the marine sanctuary of Barangay Guindacpan, Talibon around 1 am on Monday, May 15.

Guindacpan is an island barangay.

The Talibon police said members of Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Team of Talibon Municipal Police Station led by PSMS Fidel Gurrea were patrolling at 1:45 AM when they chanced upon two pump boats with three crew illegally fishing within the municipal waters of Talibon.

The suspects were residents from island barangay of Calituban.

They were arrested and charged for Violation of Municipal Ordinance C-001 (Illegal Fishing).

The confiscated pieces of evidence were two units of fishing pump boats, two pieces of pail, two kilograms of fish catch, three pieces of fishing spear, and three pairs of flippers.

The suspects opted to pay the administrative in the amount of P20,000 as provided in the said ordinance hence, they were later released pending their case for adjudication before the office of the municipal mayor.
