A multiple-car accident involving at least 11 vehicles was the cause of traffic congestion along CPG Avenue in Tagbilaran City on Friday afternoon, March 10.
According to a post of Mayor Jane Yap, a 10-wheeler trailer truck, four tricycles, one Toyota Wigo, one Mitsubis Mirage, three motorcycles, one Multicab and one pickup were involved in the incident which occurred along CPG Avenue cor Tamblot Street at around 2 p.m.
Based on their initial report, the trailer truck plowed into the other vehicles after the driver lost control of its brakes. It was speeding from Tamblot St. towards CPG Ave. It turned right and got over the opposite lane and hit around various vehicles before the driver managed to put it to a stop.
Injured were Glenn Guilo, Olivio Namoc, Mercedes Supero, Aniseta Supero Baay, Gwynn Dologon and Bridgett. Severely wounded were Mario Tangkawan from Catigbian town and Josefa Birad from Sevilla town.
The driver of the 10-wheeler flatbed truck was identified as Nerio C. Macabecha, 54, a resident of Jagna town, Bohol
The victims were immediately attended to by the Tagbilaran City CDRRMO and Tarsier 117 transported to the hospital. Some refused to be brought as they only had minor abrasions.
The PNP Traffic Investigation Unit investigated the incident and set up perimeter security.
The CTMO managed the traffic in the area. At 3 PM rescue operations were completed and traffic was normalized.
