Former Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) administrator and president-elect of Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City Benjie Oliva distributed school supplies to the children of families whose homes were gutted by a fire on Tuesday night, Jan. 3.
Oliva together with the staff of Tagbilaran City Councilor Atoy Torralba and members of MetroWalk Eagles Club led in distributing cash, school bags, notebooks, and other school supplies to the fire victims of Barangay Poblacion 2 in Tagbilaran City.
“Maayo kaayo noh. Fulfiling gud siya kay at least makaeswkela ang mga bata ogma. At least makatug ta bah nga naa silay mga gamit nga magamit nila pagtungha,” said Oliva.
Oliva said he committed to allocate a scholarship grant until college to Grey Manzano after his parents and her sibling died during the tragedy.
Grey, 12, survived the fire who at that time slept at the nearby church for the Misa de Gallo where he served as sacristan.
“Salamat kaayo kang Sir Benjie Oliva kay wala mi niya gikalimtan. Iyang gituman iyang saad,” said June Mark Justol, a Grade 10 student.
Last week, the Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City (RCPCC) donated P50,000 cash to the fire victims
The Dec. 23 fire killed three persons and left 75 families or 321 individuals homeless.
